About Us
Ron Richards, founder of Diabetes on the Run, Inc., has been a very successful Sales Consultant in Charlotte, NC with a large national print supply company for many years. He has also lived with Type I diabetes for 22 years. As diabetes has reached almost epidemic proportions in the United States and around the world he has recently begun a new company, Diabetes on The Run. The primary purpose of the company is to increase awareness of diabetes and provide helpful products that will assist those who live with the disease and support for their family members.
Ron understands the many obstacles to be faced in living well with diabetes. From his own experience, and the experience of other diabetic friends, he knows some of the risk involved in having a low blood sugar. It is critical that people around him, or anyone having a low blood sugar, know what is wrong and how to help. This is very important whether the person be an adult or a child. Ron saw a need of some way to tell people “I have diabetes and if I act confused here is what is wrong and what to do about it”. With that background the idea was born for the “I have diabetes . . . on the Run” shirt and other products that carry this life saving information where ever the person with diabetes goes.
Ron has recently been honored by The American Diabetes Association as Father of the Year in 2005. This is in recognition of his self giving service to his work and community, his commitment to his wife, two grown children, and his commitment to help people live well with diabetes.
